  annote = {In this paper, we study the preprocessing of human face
    images and its impact on face recognition efficiency. We
    constructed our own database of static gray-level images. These
    images are then preprocessed.  Faces were localised automatically
    and also manually. This eliminates all the unnecessary data, like
    image background, clothes, or hair.  For the feature extraction
    and classification, the principal component analysis is
    used. Presented results are based on the face recognition system,
    which was created at the Department of Telecommunications, FEI
    SUT, Bratislava.},
