IL1400A Radiometer / Photometer

IL1400A Radiometer / Photometer

The IL1400A combines the latest technical innovations in low level current amplification technology with microprocessor controlled simplicity. The onboard computer interrogates each "smart" detector for units, calibration and range information, automatically displaying a calibrated reading in the correct optical units.

The operating buttons are simple and straightforward, with all essential functions under microprocessor control. In addition to being user-friendly, the IL1400A provides performance specifications unmatched by any other hand-held radiometer on the market.

Through the use of the same current measurement technology pioneered in the IL1700, the IL1400A provides automatic ranging over a full seven decades (35 million to 1), with +/- 0.2 % linearity. The IL1400A is also able to autorange during exposure integrations, over either of two 5 decade dynamic ranges ('HI' and 'LO'). Integrations can span a 20 decade dose range, and last as long as 24 hours.

For more technical users, the IL1400A offers a programming mode allowing the user to change many of the default settings, units and calibration information contained in each detector identification chip.

The IL1400A features expanded I/O capabilities, with standard TTL (optional cable required) and Analog Recorder Output ports, and an optional RS232C port. The recorder output is useful for making time variation studies or optical profiling. This output can be used as an input to a data logger or computer analog interface. For those who need to maximize data processing capabilities, we offer a TTL port for direct printer or computer connection, offering a low cost solution to remote unattended data collection without any loss in data transfer accuracy.

The IL1400A includes a N.I.S.T. traceable electrical calibration. Detectors are calibrated independently to N.I.S.T. primary optical standards to ensure interchangeability between radiometers and detectors without any loss in calibration accuracy.

Our standard SEL and SL detector designs offer excellent cosine spatial responses, which are necessary for full immersion applications such as phototherapy and atmospheric UV hazard. Low profile probes for photoresist, UV curing, and other exposure applications are available in several different styles. The IL1400A is compatible with virtually all of the detector combinations available from International Light, in the SEL, SL, XRL, SCL, SPL, and SSL versions which contain detector ID chips in the connector.V Choose a system of units suitable to your application from the following standard list, or as an option, we will calibrate your detector to any nonstandard units you specify. In SIGNAL mode: W/cm2, W, lm/ft2, lux, fL, E/sec/m2, cd/cm2, cd/m2, Amp, W/cm2/sr, and W/cm2/nm. In INTEGRATE mode: J/cm2, J, lm*s/ft2, lux*s, fL*s, E/m2, cd*s/cm2, Coulomb, J/cm2/sr, and J/cm2/nm. We can also customize detectors for your unique application.V The IL1400A comes complete with a rugged carrying case to protect the instrument, detectors, filters, input optics and accessories from abuse out in the field.

FRONT PANEL CONTROLS:

The 'ZERO' button allows the automatic subtraction of any undesired background light. This convenient function is necessary for accurate readings, since ambient and scattered light can contribute significantly to the overall reading.

The 'SIGNAL' button selects direct measurement mode, including automatically selected range and units. This operating mode is used for measuring the instantaneous intensity of a light source, with the reading updated every 1/2 second, autoranging over a seven decade dynamic range.

The 'INTEGRATE' button alternately selects between two 5 decade dynamic range integration modes, 'HI' and 'LO', also with auto-ranging and auto-units. Integration is used to measure the 'dose' or sum of all light reaching the detector over time. The IL1400A is capable of exposure integrations of up to 24 hours in duration.

The 'HOLD' button freezes the display to hold darkroom readings or to terminate / pause an exposure integration. This feature makes it much more convenient to take readings in the dark. Pressing the 'HOLD' button also tells the computer to send data to the optional TTL printer.

The 'ON/OFF' button is complemented by an automatic shut-off feature for prolonged battery life, which can be optionally defeated for special long duration measurements.

The 32 character alphanumeric LCD continuously displays data with full units and the present mode of operation. Easy to understand messages such as 'LOW BATTERY' and 'over range' also appear to indicate error situations, and to guide the user through the program mode.

PROGRAMMABLE FEATURES:

The menu driven Programming Mode allows experienced users to customize many of the IL1400A's features. The auto shut-off can be optionally defeated in this mode (temporarily or permanently) for long duration measurements.

The preprogrammed units and calibration factor can also be changed in this mode, allowing custom recalibration to a relative standard, or conversion to a different set of units. The IL1400A stores the new calibration and units information in the individual detector's internal memory.

The original N.I.S.T. traceable calibration information is stored permanently in a view-only menu screen, that cannot be altered by the user. The individual detector's serial number, manufacture date, most recent calibration date, and range limitations can also be viewed in the program mode.
