Image compression by using approximation and fuzzy logic

                     Abstract

We present a new method for image file compression based on
Approximation Theory and Fuzzy Logic, which is a generalization of
existing methods. We use logical operators and fuzzy relations for
compression and polynomial, trigonometric or spline approximation for
decompression. In this way we have a better control on approximated
values, which influence the accuracy of approximation.
