Use of Homeomorphic Hausdorff Metric for Symbol Recognition

Abstract:
The purpose of object matching is to decide
the similarity between two objects. Well-
known Hausdorff distance can be used for
solution of this problem. However, Hausdorff
distance don't preserved the structure of sets
of points, which causes improper results in
many task of image recognition. Homeomorphic
Hausdorff Distance (HHD), introduced in this
work, is free of this fault. An efficient algorithm
for computing HHD introduced. Use of the HHD
for symbol recognition considered.
