Evolution and challenges of image-based 3D modeling techniques

Image based 3D modeling techniques have made a big step forward over the
last years. However, the current state of the art techniques can still
not compete with active measurement devices as for example laser range
scanners.
In this talk I will try to sketch some developments of image based 3D
modeling techniques over the last years. The main focus will be on dense
stereo and multi-view stereo approaches.
