Abstract:

RoboCup is an international and interdisciplinary initiative with the long-range goal of developing humanoid robots matching and surpassing human soccer-playing skills. RoboCup competitions further include robot applications in search and rescue scenarios as well as in domestic and industrial environments. This talk surveys some of the challenges and problems in computer vision faced by RoboCup teams in these different areas and presents some solution approaches. The objective of the talk is to raise the awareness for the challenges to computer vision in practical robot applications to challenge the community for solutions.
