The Laser Plane Range Finder delivers full 3-D data in resolution 800 x 512 samples with the precision about 0.5mm. The laser plane projector (blue box on the right) and the camera (on the left) are rigidly attached to the platform that translates (from the right to the left) horizontally with respect to the scene.
The trace of the laser plane is detected in the image and 3-D data are obtained via trinagulation. The setup is callibrated and therefore we obtain true Euclidean reconstruction.
