Genital warts are an extremely common sexually transmitted disease and can cause great misery to those infected. Because warts are an indication that someone has HPV, it is very difficult to detect if there has not been an outbreak. Some strains of HPV result in plantar wart-esque genital warts, which appear flush with the skin, less like warts and more like small cigarette burns.
