IL1770 Germicidal Research Radiometer

Meter: IL1700 Research Radiometer
Detector: SED240/G/W
Dynamic Range: 1 x 10-9 to 1 x 10-3 W/cm2
Spectral Range: 235 to 307 nm

IL1470 Germicidal Radiometer

Meter: IL1400A Radiometer / Photometer
Detector: SEL240/T2G
Dynamic Range: 100 nW/cm2 to 1.0 mW/cm2
Spectral Range: 235 to 307 nm

The IL1770 & IL1470 Germicidal Radiometer Systems provide direct measurement of Effective Germicidal Radiation, spectrally weighted to match the IES Luckiesh and DIN standard Germicidal effective Irradiance curves, from 250 to 310 nm (265 nm peak). The detectors utilize solar-blind vacuum photodiode detectors to provide the long UV and visible light rejection required for valid irradiance measurements in the deep UV. We also offer a Germicidal Line detector (SEL240/T2NS254, SED240/NS254/W) for narrow band (249 to 259 nm, 254 nm peak) mercury line measurements.

The IL1770 System also provides the ability to measure UVC output with the addition of just one sharp cut filter (SCS280) to the system. The irradiance above 280 nm (with the SCS280) is subtracted from the broadband irradiance from the bare SED240, yielding a broadband UVC measurement (190 to 280 nm). Filters are also available from stock for narrow band measurements at 254 nm, 280 nm, 296.7 nm and 313 nm (NS313). Wavelengths as short as 185 nm are available for use with the SED220 detector, which features a fused silica window for deeper UV responsivity.

IL1771 Germicidal Research Radiometer

Meter: IL1700 Research Radiometer
Detector: SED240/W
Dynamic Range: 3 x 10-10 to 3 x 10-4 W/cm2
Spectral Range: 185 to 310 nm (10 %)

IL1471 Germicidal Radiometer

Meter: IL1400A Radiometer / Photometer
Detector: SEL240/TD
Dynamic Range: 70 nW/cm2 to 0.7 mW/cm2
Spectral Range: 185 to 310 nm (10 %)

The IL1771 & IL1471 Germicidal Radiometer Systems provide a cost effective way to measure the germicidal effect of low pressure mercury lamps. Since 95 % of the light from these lamps is at 253.7 nm, no filter is needed. The SED240 solar-blind vacuum photodiode provides 10,000 to 1 blocking from visible light and a peak at 240 nm.

The IL1771 & IL1471 systems come with a N.I.S.T. traceable calibration at 253.7 nm, for extremely accurate readings when the source is a low pressure mercury lamp. Many water treatment and tuberculosis purification systems employ these lamps due to their efficient germicidal output. The output of these lamps can vary significantly over time, requiring periodic monitoring.

This detector is also available in a low profile version SL225 for use in EEPROM erasure apparatus where again low pressure mercury lamps are commonly used. The low profile SL225 can be mounted directly on the IL1400A, or on a remote extension cable.

Both the IL1771 and IL1471 systems are compatible with our extensive line of UV filters and remote harsh environment input optics, for applications requiring a more custom approach.
