Heikki Kalviainen presents Computer Vision at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT): Research and Applications

On 2011-06-13 11:00 at G205, Karlovo náměstí 13, Praha 2
Abstract:

This presentation gives an overview on research activities in Machine Vision
and
Pattern Recognition Laboratory (MVPR) in Lappeenranta University of Technology
(LUT), Finland. The goal of MVPR is to perform high quality research on
computational vision and modeling, machine learning, and pattern recognition.
The laboratory also serves the industry as an expert organization, performs
applied research, and educates experts in its own area. The research interests
of the Laboratory include object detection and recognition, multi-modal
estimation and control for robotics, visual inspection, retinal image
processing
and analysis, and modeling of photoactive biomolecules. The presentation
introduces the main research areas, focusing on visual inspection, especially
machine vision based quality control from pulping to papermaking for printing.
