Our academic community contains a significant minority of foreigners and possibly even a cyborg, so I consider it important to explain local affairs also to those who have difficulties with understanding Czech.

Academic Senate of FEE - member 2007-13, head 2011-12. After two terms in office, I have made a break. Being not satisfied with the current senate, I apply again.
Scientific Council of FEE - member 2012-15.
International Quantum Structures Association - president 2006-08, vicepresident 2008-10
Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics - member of the Council 2003-10
Mensa Secondary School - member of the Board of Directors 2004-08
Communication with the academic community. Two weeks before the deadline for applications, we would not have known of the elections until the Senate needed members of the electoral committee.
The senat failed in the dean's elections. (I do not commment on the result, but on the procedure.) In the first round, the Senat expressed its negative evaluation of the candidates. However, the senators did not seriously look for better candidates. The faculty staff was not informed of the elections.
It is frightening that 6 members of the Senate support in the dean's elections a person with minimal educational experience, no scientific experience, and failing as a manager.
The senat failed in the elections of the Scientific Council. The senate eliminated all strong personalities. I cannot imagine the current Scientific Council rejecting any proposal.
Have you noticed the recent schedule of the academic year? In my course, due to holiday replacements, the last Monday's seminar was on January 4th, followed by 5 lectures! As a former member of the Academic Senate, I succeeded to persuade the faculty leaders that the last week of the semester has to be without such exceptions.
The senate does not inform of events. E.g., on February 16th, its board at Karlovo náměstí presented an invitation to the January's meeting and the results of the October's meeding, ignoring the last 2, resp. 4 meetings. The long-term situation is similar.
Cancellation of the payment for a successful completion of studies.
As the Head of the Senate, I coped successfully with the unique situation when a foreign candidate applied to our dean's elections.
I initiated a change of a system which distributed money to departments according to the students' feedback. Before, the system was tuned so that money depended more on the participation in the feedback than on the evaluation.
Following my observation, the wrong algorithm for computation of average grades was corrected.
(For the last item, membership in the senate is not important.)
Simplification of legislation.
Update of the Law of the Academic Senate (electronic voting etc.).
Simplification and update of the rules for giving the titles of Associate Professor ("Docent") and Full Professor. I am an author of one such proposal, alternative suggestions are considered, still no change was accepted.
Timely information about the activities of the Senate.
Collecting opinions of the academic community (e.g., a meeting once per semester).
Change of the Law of the Scientific Council. Now the result strongly depends on the presence because an absence has the same consequences as a negative vote.
Reinforcement of the scholarship fund, e.g. by payments for extra administrative actions (caused by carelessness, not by illness).
We have a detailed feedback on teaching, not on other services (administration, technical support, mensas, ...).
Experience from two departments of FEE and from abroad. Education in Czech and English at all levels.
Basic and applied research, >200 papers, >600 citations, H-index 12 (WoS), Erdös number 2.
