Derivation of the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)

This chapter derives the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) as a projection of a length $ N$ signal $ x$ onto the set of $ N$ sampled complex sinusoids generated by the $ N$th roots of unity.
