SAS-RTG-097 Workshop
Paris June 12-13, 2013

Workshop mission
The workshop aims beyond the scope of SAS-097 members since we wish
to bring together the science/technology specialists with operational
specialists in order to assess the implications of robotics. The topic
of the workshop is:
"Bridging technology and operational use in military robotics"
Thanks to Mark Tocher (NATO ACT), we have received positive responses from our
request for support to the NATO Centres of Excellence (CoEs). The
following CoEs have included our project within their respective 2013
Programs of Work: Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Modelling and
Simulation, Naval Mine Warfare, Joint Air Power Competency Centre,
Counter Improvised Explosive Devices and Command and Control. We expect
that each of the COEs will send a representative to our SAS-097
workshop, such that we can initiate a close cooperation. In the final,
we expect the COEs will contribute to SAS-097 in the following: (1)
vignettes/use cases that the COE may have produced at the tactical or
operational levels wherein the application of robotics could be tested;
(2) a brief written report on where the COE sees robotic applications
within its sphere of speciality.
The actual tasks to be acomplished:
- evaluation of recent SAS-RTG-097 achievements,
- initialization of cooperation with the COEs,
- re-organization of the virtual strands,
- planning and coordination of future virtual strands activities.
